GUJRANWALA, March 20: At least 32 buffaloes of a milkman were killed and four injured when a wall collapsed on them at Khiali Shahpur on Tuesday.
Reports said a contractor had got constructed about 2,000-foot wall along Jinnah Road a few days ago. It collapsed on buffalos roaming around as a result of which 32 of them were killed while four others injured.
Muhammad Ali, the milkman, estimated a loss of Rs2 million. The veterinary doctors provided necessary vaccination to the injured buffalos.
GCCI: US Consulate Principal Officer Bryan Hunt has said America is making efforts to reach the free trade agreement with Pakistan.
Talking to the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry office-bearers during his visit to an exhibition of Made-in-Gujranwala products at Gulshan Iqbal Park on Tuesday, he revealed that the US would sign an investment treaty with Pakistan which would promote the trade relations between the two countries.
He visited various stalls and appreciated the quality of products which, he said, were as good as were produced in the US.
Earlier, GCCI president Rana Shahzad Hafiz and other office-bearers welcomed him at the industrial exhibition.
DBA STRIKE: The Gujranwala district bar association on Tuesday announced complete strike and boycott of courts besides plan to set up hunger strike camp in the district courts on Wednesday (today).
The lawyers are set to protest action against the chief justice and manhandling of the protesting lawyers and journalists.
At a meeting held here with DBA president Illyas Rehan in the chair, the participants condemned suspension of the chief justice and later sending him on forced leave by the government.
