KARACHI, March 19: A Malaysian firm has expressed interest in the Karachi Mass Transit mega project and CNG buses in the metropolis. A delegation of Landesign Group Sendirian, led by its Managing Director Haji Usman bin Yousuf, called on City Nazim Mustafa Kamal at his office on Monday and expressed their desire to invest in the two projects on built-operate and transfer (BOT) basis.

Haji Usman said he was impressed with the speedy completion of mega projects, including the signal-free corridor. Appreciating the policy of public-private partnership, he said his company wanted to participate in the development of Karachi and was ready to undertake any corridor of Karachi Mass Transit project.

The nazim briefed the delegation on investment opportunities in the mass transit system and CNG buses saying that the city government will provide maximum cooperation in this regard. He directed the DG Mass Transit to provide the delegation complete details of the project.

He said the city government had a free-investment policy under which any foreign company could invest its capital. The city government was ready to cooperate with the Malaysian firm for launching low-cost housing schemes, he added.

RECEPTION: The city government hosted a reception for the visiting 100 youths of China at Civic Centre, which was attended by city government officials.
