KARACHI, March 19: A section officer of the home department was shot dead on Monday on Abul Asphani Road while he was on way to his office in a contract bus, police said.

They said Ali Gohar, who hailed from Lucky Ghulam Shah, left his flat at Sohrab Goth in the morning and when the bus he was travelling in reached near Iqra City, occupants in two cars stormed into the bus and sprayed the victim with bullets.

The body was shifted to Jinnah hospital where sources said the 45-year-old victim had received five bullets from close range, most in the upper torso and one each in the skull, jaw and arm.

The Sachal police registered a case against seven attackers on the complaint of the victim’s younger brother Dildar Ali, who stated that his brother was murdered due to personal feud.
