The standing committee led by its chairman Sardar Tufail was on a two-day visit to review performance of the railways.

The meeting discussed issues like starting new trains, repair and rehabilitation of railway track and laying of new tracks.

The Railway administration also informed the committee that new trains had been started on various sections to meet demand of the travelling public and as a result railways income has further increased.

The new trains are running at 70-90 per cent capacity, which is a very positive sign and they did not put any burden on the railway track. The committee was informed that the work was in progress on dualization of rail track at Khanewal-Raiwind section.—APP
