HYDERABAD, March 18: Three out of the eight men, who have been in ‘undeclared’ police custody, have been shown arrested and one of them has been released.

They are among the eight people who were picked-up by investigation police of the city around one month ago for interrogation in different cases and on charges of their alleged links with banned jihadi outfits.

Police had been keeping them at different places, including private ones like petrol pumps and deserted areas, to avoid any surprise raid by any judicial officer if any of their family members approached court of law.

The three persons, who have been shown arrested, are: Hamid, Salamuddin and Ghulam Murtaza. Market police initially obtained four day remand of Hamid in police custody in a dacoity case.

However, according to an investigation official, he was released on Saturday after being cleared in investigation.

Salamuddin and Ghulam Murtaza are under police remand which was granted by civil judge and judicial magistrate-II for three days in a theft case lodged with the Hali road police. The remand expired on Sunday and they would be produced before court on Monday.

A group of journalists on Thursday had visited a filling station off National Highway following an information that police had been holding some persons, including students of a seminary, in illegal detention. They found eight persons in chains who were detained there by Latifabad investigation police but soon they were whisked away by the police.

One of them Talat Mehmood was shown arrested on Saturday.

Four of them are still being held in wrongful detention at some unknown destination by investigation police.
