THATTA, March 17: The management of Al-Asif Dewan sugar mills in Garho, 60 kilometre away from here, has summarily dismissed the services of about two dozen permanent and seasonal employees, it was learnt on Saturday.

The fired employees including Ali Bux Memon, Mazhar Ali, Haji Khan Leghari, Karim Hyder, Ghulam Abbas, Inayat Ali, Shaukat Lashari, Sharif and Abdul Hussain Alvi who staged a demonstration in front of the mills’ gate the other day told journalists that many retrenched permanent employees had been working at the mills since the day it was set up.

They said that the management had prepared a list of 60 employees to be fired strategically. It was the same management which had sacked poor employees from the main factory Dewan Sugar Mills in Budho Talpur, they said.

When this scribe asked the mills general manager Aurangzeb Khan about the retrenchments he admitted that he had fired the employees verbally after receiving directives.
