Minor girl killed in accident

LAHORE, March 17: A minor girl was killed while her two family members received injuries in an accident in Islampura on Saturday. Police said Ishaq, a resident of Qadirabad, Kasur, was crossing the road near Aiwan-i-Adl along with his daughters Saima and Aqsa when a double-cabin pick-up hit them. They were rushed to the Mayo Hospital where two and a half year old Aqsa succumbed to her injuries.

The pick-up driver managed to escape while the police impounded the vehicle.

Ishaq had reportedly come to Lahore to purchase welding material.

In another accident, a 22-year-old man was crushed under the wheels of a train in Badami Bagh on Saturday.

Police said Adnan, a resident of Ravi Chowk, was crossing the railway line when the accident occurred.

ROBBERY: Four robbers deprived a journalist of an English-language daily of cash and other valuables in the early hours of Saturday.

Mohsin Yasin Khan told this reporter that he was his on way home when four robbers riding a bike stopped him on Golf Road in GOR-I at 1:30am.

They snatched his wallet, a cell phone and his bag containing valuables worth Rs2,000 and escaped, he added.

Two armed men snatched Rs20,000 in cash and a cell phone from Atif near 212-Peco Road and fled while as many people deprived a man of cash and cell phone in G-I market in Johar Town.

Two gunmen burst into a house in Madina Colony in Factory Area, held the family at gunpoint and took away Rs100,000 in cash.

A car was reportedly driven away from Iqbal Town.

GANGS: Saddar CIA and Nawankot investigation police claimed on Saturday to have smashed two gangs and arrested their seven members.
