HYDERABAD, March 16: Sindh Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal President Maulana Asadullah Bhutto said on Friday that Gen Pervez Musharraf had made a mockery of judiciary in the eyes of the world by rendering Chief Justice of Pakistan “non-functional”.

Mr Bhutto said while addressing the participants of a protest demonstration outside the local press club that the recent chain of events proved that Pakistan and Gen Musharraf could not co-exist. The protesters also staged a sit-in at the SP office roundabout.

One individual had made all the institutions of the state subservient to his wishes by ruling the country through the barrel of gun and dictatorship instead of constitution and law, he said.

He said that people were lauding the CJP for his courage and demanding resignation of the president.

He slammed use of batons by police on lawyers in Islamabad and Lahore and arrest of Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Dr. Fareed Piracha and Liaquat Baloch on Friday while they were protesting against the president’s action against CJP in Islamabad and Lahore.

MMA leaders Abdul Waheed Qureshi, Sheikh Shaukat Ali and others also spoke on the occasion.
