KARACHI, March 16: The Collectorate of Sales Tax has set up a discretion free corporate counter at the Sales Tax House to facilitate the corporate sector taxpayers in matters pertaining to sales tax refund and data feeding.

This arrangement is part of an ongoing exercise of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to adopt a fast track procedure in accordance with the profile of taxpayers. The basic principle underline the exercise is to ensure that cleaner a taxpayer faster the dispensation of refunds and other matters such as processing of assessments.

This was stated by Collector Sales Tax House Shafqat Mehmood who on Friday made a soft opening of the counter to facilitate the corporate taxpayers in receiving refund claims and their prompt payments.

Special arrangements have been made to ensure fast processing of refund claims and a separate staff of the collectorate will handle cases submitted on the counter. All refund claims having no objection are considered to be valid and will be settled within three days from the date of receipt.

The information window already operating at the Enforcement collectorate will be helpful in providing the required information to the taxpayers with regard to objections, if any, on their refund claims. This will ensure that the taxpayers and tax collectors do not come into direct contact at any stage.

By the time a claim is being processed by the collectorate, the taxpayer on getting advance information from the window could remove objection by submitting relevant documents.
