Patron’s Cup rescheduled

LAHORE, March 15: The rescheduled Patron's Cup one-day cricket tournament will now start at various venues in the country from March 17. The event was to start from March 14 but the inclement weather in the country during the last week forced the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to postpone it.

Eight departmental teams – Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Customs (Pool A), PIA, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL), Wapda and Sui Northern Gas Limited (Pool B) – are taking part in the competition.

Top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals, to be held on March 23 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore and Sheikhupura Stadium. Gaddafi Stadium will also host the final on March 25.

Pool A:

March 17: HBL v ZTBL, Gaddafi Stadium; NBP v Customs, Sheikhupura Stadium; March 19: HBL v NBP, Gaddafi Stadium; Customs v ZTBL, Sheikhupura Stadium; March 21: HBL v Customs, Sheikhupura Stadium; NBP v ZTBL, Gaddafi Stadium.

Pool B:

March 17: PIA v KRL, KRL Stadium; Wapda v SNGPL, Pindi Stadium; March 19: PIA v Wapda, Pindi Stadium; KRL v SNGPL, KRL Stadium; March 21: KRL v Wapda, Pindi Stadium; PIA v SNGPL, KRL Stadium.

Semi-finals:

March 23: (first) Winners (Pool A) v Runners-up (Pool B), Gaddafi Stadium; (second): Winners (Pool B) v Runners-up (Pool A), Sheikhupura Stadium.

March 25: Final, Gaddafi Stadium.
