KARACHI, March 14: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday reviewed the position of water and sewerage networks in Landhi Town and issued directives to the authorities concerned to resolve the problem being faced by people on an urgent basis.

Chairing a meeting held here on Wednesday to discuss the water and sewerage issues pertaining to all UCs of the town, the nazim pointed out that projects costing billions of rupees had been initiated in most of the UCs whereas work on more projects in the remaining areas was being started in the next couple of months.

Managing Director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Brig (r) Iftikhar Haider, Acting Town Nazim Dr Irshad and Naib Nazim Asif Hasnain were among those present at the meeting.

The elected representatives told the meeting that the town was facing a shortage of potable water whereas many localities of its six UCs lacked proper water and sewerage infrastructure. There called for immediate steps to resolve these problems.

The city nazim order an extensive survey in this regard and said that a report be submitted to him within a week.

He also asked the officials concerned to prepare the PC-1 of the plan for the installation of pumping machines at Future Colony Pumping Station.

The nazim also received a delegation of the Pakistan Blind Foundation. The delegation was led by president of the organisation Shahid Memon. The nazim, on behalf of the city government, donated a coaster to the Foundation to facilitate special people’s movement.—Staff Reporter
