LAHORE, March 13: Punjab and Sindh governments are preparing “baseless” references against Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, according to Ghulam Abbas, secretary-general of the Pakistan People’s Party, Punjab chapter.

Abbas told a news conference on Tuesday the Punjab government had issued instructions to all superintendents of police to collect details of all “victims” of suo motu notices taken by Justice Chaudhry. These people, he said, would be taken to Islamabad where they would appear before the Supreme Judicial Council.

The PPP leader alleged the Sindh chief minister was also working on new references against Justice Chaudhry. —Staff Reporter
