LAHORE, March 13: One teenager and an infant of a family died and two others injured when a roof collapsed in Gaga village, Hadyara, on Tuesday.

Police said the family of Ilyas was asleep when the roof of a room collapsed owing to rain. His daughter Shazia, 18, and 10-month-old granddaughter Shomaila died while daughter Najma and nephew Kausar were injured.

Police said the house was in a dilapidated condition, and the roof was made of wooden sticks.

FOUND DEAD: A 60-year-old man was found dead with a head injury in the Chuhng area on Tuesday morning.

The Chuhng ASP said initial investigation revealed that Sher Muhammad, a resident of Hyderi Colony, Pir Adalat Ali Shah Road, slept in his under-construction shop adjacent to his house along with an unidentified guest.

Suspecting involvement of the guest in the murder, the ASP said Sher had received the person on Monday evening and arranged a charpoy and a bed sheet for him.

On Tuesday morning, the man was missing and Sher was found dead with a brick lying along side him, he said.

Police removed the body to the city mortuary while a case was registered against unidentified killers on the complaint of Mansha, the deceased’s son.

Sher, who was survived by a wife and five children, was constructing several shops and used to sleep there to look after the construction material.

ARREST: Police claimed to have arrested a ‘killer’ who, along with his accomplices, shot dead his 30-year-old rival in Sanda on Tuesday.

The Sanda SHO said Sher Ali, a resident of Bajaur Agency, had come to see his sister at Umer Colony on Bund Road when his opponent Dilawar, of Mardan, reached there along with his accomplices.

They called Sher out of his house and shot him dead, he added.

Police arrested Dilawar while his accomplices fled. A case was registered against five people.

The enmity started with the murder of Zaman Khan, the brother of Sher, the police said.
