SIALKOT, March 13: The traffic police and district administration impounded hundreds of public transports vehicles in Sialkot and Narowal districts to transport PML workers to Gujranwala for President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s public meeting scheduled for

March 15.

The resultant shortage of public transport created problems for the commuters, especially women and children.

The aggrieved commuters strongly criticised the government for impounding the vehicles.

However, taking full advantage of the situation, the rickshaw owners charged more than double fares from the people. This situation compelled the daily wage earners to travel on trucks and tractor trolleys.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the district administrations in Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala have also impounded hundreds of public transport vehicles.
