LAHORE, March 11: M. Shabbir Iqbal claimed the Multan Open Golf title with excellent three-day aggregate of 26-under-par-190 at the Multan on Sunday.

Shabbir remained consistent on all three days and never allowed any opponent to even come close to him. His three day score (64,62,64) showed how much he was focused on all the three days.

Challengers like Maltoob Ahmed and M.Akram did open their cylinders for a while on the final day but found the opposition a bit too capable and were content to vie for second position only.

On the final day, M.Shabbir Iqbal a seasoned campaigner from Islamabad completed the first and back eight holes with 32 strokes, each. Interestingly his only bogie of the tournament was on the 16th hole, which surprised him and many golf lovers following his march to victory.

Maltoob Ahmed (Gymkhana) ended up as runner-up, eleven strokes behind Shabbir, yet he managed to impress with his coolness and striking form.

M. Akram (Wapda) secured the third position.
