KARACHI, March 10: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Saturday described the ongoing multi-nation naval exercise Aman 07 as a strong message from all peace-loving nations to ‘terror-mongers’ that they would not be allowed to disrupt global peace and security.

He said this while interacting with media persons aboard PNS Nasar, from where he reviewed the ongoing 29-nation exercise.

Highlighting the ‘immense importance’ of world navies’ efforts to prevent illegal activities, including terrorism, he said the ongoing exercise will greatly enhance inter-operability and harmony among the participating navies for effective joint operations.

“The officers and men of Pakistan Navy deserve all my appreciation and felicitation for such a well organised and grand naval exercise ‘Aman 07’,” said Gen Musharraf, emphasising that “participation of such a large number of naval forces from across the globe bears testimony to the fact that we are determined to make our seas safe and secure”.

Gen Musharraf said that congregation of 29 navies from different corners under one banner “is an extension of our efforts to make the world a peaceful place to live”.

The president was accompanied by Senior Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.

He was received by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir.
