KARACHI, March 9: A National Accountability Bureau reference (No.8/2007) has been filed before the administrative judge of the Accountability Court, Karachi, against Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Rasool Bux Rahoo and others. The reference pertains to the illegal allotment of prime land of KPT on Mai Kolachi Road.

The case had earlier been transferred from the Anti-corruption Court to the NAB court.

Meanwhile, hearing of another NAB reference, against a former DSP, Chaudhry Nazar Mohammad, was adjourned till March 22, 2007.

The DSP has been accused of misuse of power and accumulating wealth and properties beyond any legal source of income. The Accountability Court has declared him ‘absconder’ and ordered attachment of his properties.

Later, his family trust moved a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court for restoration of the confiscated assets and properties worth millions of rupees.

Claiming ownership of the properties, the family prayed to the court to exclude the properties from NAB reference.—PPI
