KARACHI, March 8: The Pakhtun Action Committee (Loya Jirga) on Thursday announced that it did not accept the setting up of the committee assigned to prepare draft laws on road accidents, saying that the committee had no representative from the vital party, transporters.
In a statement, PAC chief Shahi Syed observed that unrest prevailed among transporters following reports that a high-level committee comprising secretaries of home, law, transport and other departments was being established to recommend draft laws under which bail to a driver involved in a road accident could be denied and a case against owner of the vehicle involved could be instituted.
He said that a PAC meeting would be held on Sunday at the Bacha Khan Markaz to discuss the issue.
