LARKANA, March 7: A peasant of Sindh National Front chief Mumtaz Bhutto filed a direct complaint on Wednesday in the court of second judicial magistrate, Larkana, against the city police for committing robbery at his residence.

Those named in the complaint of Moor Shaikh are the Larkana DPO, the Saddar TPO and the SHOs of Naudero and Keti Mumtaz police stations.

Moor, resident of Himath Shaikh village in Ratodero, said in his application that the above-mentioned officers with heavy police force broke into his house on March 3. After making inmates’ hostage, they took away household articles, including six goats. Bakhshal objected on which ASI Meeran Khan Durrani aimed gun at him but Ms Iqbal Khatoon and Ms Gullan intervened and saved him.

He mentioned the names of Imdad Shaikh and Ghulam Nabi Shaikh as witnesses in his petition.

Moor alleged that the police later arrested Bakhshal, Iqbal Khatoon, wife of Mumtaz Ali, and Gullan, wife of Sabhago Shaikh.

The magistrate transferred the application to the sessions court, saying that an application under section 17 (3) was an exclusive trial authority of the sessions court, said advocate Ahmed Ali Shaikh.

The Keti Mumtaz police on Tuesday had registered a case against Bakhshal Shaikh, Iqbal Khatoon and Gullan under sections 353, 216-A, 506/2, 148 and 149, PPC.

The SHO was the complainant in the FIR wherein five persons -- Aitbar, Faiz Mohammad, Ashiq, Moor and Bakht Ali -- were shown as absconders.

Meanwhile Mohammed Ibrahim Abro, in-charge, media cell of the SNF, told journalists on Wednesday that the case had been registered at the behest of the government to pressurise the SNF leadership to abandon the ‘Sindhi Jago Sindh Bachayo’ campaign.

Relatives of the arrested women along with activists of the SNF held a protest demonstration outside the Women Police Station against the arrest.

The second judicial magistrate Larkana remanded two women in jail custody for 14 days on Wednesday.

Two electrocuted: Two young men were electrocuted in different parts of Ratodero taluka on Wednesday.

Niaz Bhutto, 18, a shepherd, while grazing cattle was caught in a live electric wire in Abad Bhutto village and died.

Carrying his corpse, relatives and villagers, held a demonstration to protest against Hesco’s apathy. In another incident, Ayaz, 20 was electrocuted in Garbiabad locality of Naudero while attempting to establish an unauthorised connection.
