Lawyer held for contempt

SHEIKHUPURA, March 7: A lawyer was arrested on Wednesday by police for using improper language while arguing in a case in the court of Nankana Sahib civil judge

Reports said lawyer Tariq Mehmood Awan, president of Pakistan People’s Party, Sangla Hill, appeared in the court in a civil suit.

During arguments, the lawyer used derogatory language. The judge, Syed Fahim Shahid, asked the lawyer to behave properly but he continued to use objectionable language.

At last, the police arrested the lawyer on court orders. A case was registered under section 7/(H), ATA.

MURDER: A proclaimed offender shot a landlord dead and injured another on refusing to pay him Jagga (forced) tax in Makki village, in the limits of Farooqabad Saddar police.

PO Zafar alias Zafri approached Ghulam Mustafa and Ashraf and demanded some money. He opened fire when they refused to oblige him as a result of which Mustafa was killed and Ashraf suffered critical injuries. He was removed to hospital.

Police said Zafar had shot Gharib Alam dead when he refused to pay him. — Correspondent
