CHAKWAL, March 7: The Chelum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), which was provided a security cover of 1,000 policemen, from the Rawalpindi range, by the local administration, ended peacefully here Wednesday evening.
The Chakwal tehsil nazim, Sardar Abbass Akbar; SP Investigation, Abdul Jalil Malik; DSP Saddar, Raja Tahir Bashir; DSP Talagang, Nisar Kazmi and SHO city police station, Raja Javed Anwar, accompanied the procession on its sensitive route.
This year, the Panther Squad was also deployed but the army troops were not called out, although this has been the practice for the last 22 years.
MURREE: The Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) was observed here on Wednesday.
According to APP, the procession started from the Tehsil Road Imambargah and after crossing the Lower Bazaar, Siddique Chowk, GPO, the Mall Road and Marhaba Chowk, it returned to its point of origin.
A large number of devotees took part in the procession.
Before the procession started, learned orators reminded those present about the immense sacrifices of the great Imam and his companions in Karbala.
A group of mourners from Tret also took part in the procession. No unpleasant incident took place, as a large number of policemen escorted the procession.
Professor Allama Inayat Ali Bangash, Mirza Hassan Askari, Maulana Moosa Ali and Aftab Ali led the procession.
