KARACHI, March 5: Warships from Britain, France, China, Malaysia and Bangladesh arrived here on Monday to participate in the multi-national AMAN 07 exercise, commencing on Tuesday in the North Arabian Sea. Ships and special force elements from other navies taking part in the exercise will reach on Tuesday.

The two-week exercise involving the navies of 27 countries is being hosted by the Pakistan Navy to rehearse combined moves and tactics, and harmonize coalition operations to combat terrorism on the sea. The exercise is also aimed at enhancing understanding and cooperation among the navies of friendly countries.

A traditional warm welcome depicting the cultural heritage of the four provinces was held for the incoming ships.

The exercise, a demonstration of united resolve against terrorism, aims to project Pakistan as a country contributing to peace and stability and to consolidate the Pakistan Navy’s position in the regional maritime domain.
