KARACHI, March 5: Brisk shipping activity was witnessed at the port where five ships to load, unload containers, wheat, furnace oil, chemicals and coal took berths at QICT, MPT, Fotco terminal, Engro Vopak terminal and Iron Ore and Coal berth, respectively, during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Berth occupancy was maintained at 60 per cent at the port where a total of six ships occupied berths to load, unload containers, wheat, furnace oil, chemicals and coal, respectively, during the report period.

The port handled a cargo volume of 81,925 tons comprising 55,630 tons imports and 26,295 tons of exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,751 (Teus) during the same period.

Three ships were at the outer anchorage on Monday. These are: Nedlloyed Africa (container); Al Salam-11 (diesel oil); and Stella (furnace oil).

Two ships Saudi Abha and Cap Roca sailed out during the period under review.
