KARACHI, March 4: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked the Indian government to share with Pakistan the information gained from the investigation into the Samjhota Express tragedy which left more than 30 Pakistanis dead.

He was speaking at a ceremony at the Governor’s House on Sunday to distribute compensation cheques among heirs of the people killed in the incident.

The prime minister asked the Indian government to take immediate action against the elements behind the barbaric and inhuman act of terror.

“They were all innocent and peace-loving Pakistanis and had not harmed anyone,” the prime minister said.

Mr Aziz pointed out that when the incident occurred the government immediately mobilised the entire machinery of the Pakistan Railways.

He said Railways Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmed and top government officials reached the Wagah border and relief was provided to the affected people.

For bringing the injured people back, Pakistan arranged a PAF C-130 on the same day but the Indian government took two days to allow its flight.

Mr Aziz said the government was providing medical assistance to the injured, adding that they also would be provided financial relief.—APP
