JERUSALEM, March 4: The US official who oversees efforts to impose economic sanctions on Iran discussed the Iranian threat with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, according to a statement from Olmert’s office.

The meetings between Stuart Levey, the US Treasury’s undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, and Israeli officials are the latest in Israeli and US coordination on how to intensify sanctions against Iran in an effort to get it to abandon its nuclear programme, Israeli media reported on Sunday. The statement hinted that Olmert discussed issues other than Iran—AP
