Women national cricket from 17th

LAHORE, March 2: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s third (PCB) National Women's Championship will be played from March 17 at various centres of the country.

“In all 12 teams – 11 regional and one from Pakistan Universities – will take part in the grand event which will end on March 29,” said a PCB spokesman here on Friday.

The event will be played in two rounds. The preliminary round will be played in three regions – Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi – while the final round will be held in Rawalpindi.

The PCB spokesman also gave the formation of Pools and schedule of the matches. Group A consists of Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Multan; Group B features Karachi, Hyderabad, Quetta and Pak Universities while the Group C comprises Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar and Abbottabad.

Preliminary round

Group A and B: March 18 Lahore v Faisalabad at Lahore Country Club at Muridke; Karachi v Hyderabad at RCA Ground, Karachi; Sialkot v Multan at Cricket Centre; Quetta v Pak Universities at National Stadium, Karachi.

March 19: Faisalabad v Sialkot at Model Town Whites, Lahore; Karachi v Quetta at RCA Ground, Karachi; Lahore v Multan at Government College University, Lahore; Hyderabad v Pak Universities at National Stadium, Karachi.

March 21: Lahore v Sialkot at Government College University, Lahore; Pak Universities v Karachi at RCA Ground, Karachi; Faisalabad v Multan at LCCA Ground; Hyderabad v Quetta at National Stadium, Karachi.

Group C: March 17 Rawalpindi v Islamabad at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi; March 18: Abbottabad v Peshawar at Army Stadium; March 19: Islamabad v Abbottabad at Fatima Jinnah Park Ground, F-9, Islamabad; Rawalpindi v Peshawar at Army Stadium; March 21: Peshawar v Islamabad at Fatima Jinnah Park Ground, Islamabad; Rawalpindi v Abbottabad at Army Stadium.

Final round: March 25 Winners of Group A v Winners of Group B at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi; March 26: Winners of Group B v Winners of Group C at Pindi Stadium; March 27: Winners of Group A v Winners of Group C at Pindi Stadium; March 29: Final at Pindi Stadium. —APP
