Eight killed in Shikarpur

SHIKARPUR, March 2: Eight people died in two separate incidents in the Garhi Yasin area on Friday.

In the first incident, six people including a woman -- Nawab, Azizullah, Amir Bux, Dad Mohammad, Imtiaz Khatoon and 10-year old Mir Hazar, all Marfanis by caste, were killed and eight others suffered multiple bullet injuries in an armed clash between the two groups of Marfanis in the jurisdiction of Golo Daro police station.

The motive behind the clash is said to be a dispute over a family matter between the cousins at a paddy encampment near their Gulsher Marfani village.

Four of the injured, Saddam Hussain, Dad Karim, Babu and Jafar, were sent to the Shikarpur Civil Hospital, while the others were taken by their relatives whose names could not be ascertained. No FIR was registered till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, two villagers, Haji Shamsuddin alias Shaman Jeho and Mashooq Ali Jeho of Ibrahim Ji Wandh village near Madeji, were kidnapped by armed men from Ghanghra-Deho link road and gunned down when the kidnappers saw a group of armed villagers coming towards them.

The deceased were on their way to the village after taking tea at a hotel at Beham bus stop when the incident took place.

The motive behind the murder is said to be an old enmity. No FIR was registered till the filing of this report.
