ISLAMABAD, March 2: Capt (retd) Zafar Iqbal Awan, the present District Police Officer of Attock, will take over as Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) of Islamabad on Monday, a government notification announced on Friday.

SSP Awan is replacing SSP Sikandar Hayat, who is to get a new posting, probably as Assistant Inspector General, after he completes a five-month course at the National Institute for Public Administration (NIPA), according to police sources.

“It was a very fast pitch (in Islamabad)”, SSP Hayat said when Dawn asked about his thoughts on leaving the federal capital. “Thank God I completed my 21-month tenure of duty in Islamabad without any serious hurdle.”—Staff Reporter
