SAHIWAL, March 1: Unidentified thieves took away about 9,000 feet overhead wire worth Rs160,000 after snapping it from poles supporting the 132-KV transmission line near chak 50/5-L on Thursday.

Because of snapping of the wire, power supply to at least eight villages, Chak Nos 48,49,47,46,45,51,43 and 50/5-L, was suspended.

ARRESTED: City police have arrested a doctor, a nurse and their two accomplices on charges of issuing threats to a trader in Mohalla Chishtian after trespassing the boundary of his house.

Reportedly, Dr Muhammad Tariq, Asia, Javed and Bashir entered the house of trader Sheikh Zulfiqar Ali and threatened him of dire consequences over some old dispute.

As the trader and his family members raised an alarm, neighbours called police who arrested the accused. A Case has been registered under sections 452 and 34 PPC.
