Two cops face action

Published February 28, 2007

QUETTA, Feb 27: Balochistan IGP Tariq Masood Khosa has taken action against two police officers for releasing some suspects arrested in connection with bomb blasts in the city.

Police sources said the Quaidabad police had detained the suspects for their alleged involvement in two bomb explosions which had claimed lives of four people. Later, DSP Shaban Ali freed the suspects without completing investigation.

The suspects have disappeared from Quetta.

“Yes, a DSP was suspended and another senior police officer was made OSD,” said Mr Khosa and added that investigation against them was under way.

He said if the probe proved that the suspects had been released deliberately, strict action would be taken against the police officers.
