NEW DELHI: British reality TV show contestant Jade Goody, who sparked a row by tormenting a Bollywood actress on “Celebrity Big Brother” said on Tuesday she had donated money from the show to poor Indian children.

The 25-year-old Briton, who arrived in New Delhi on Monday on what she called a “private visit,” said she had given $50,000 to a shelter for abandoned children.

Goody said she would donate the rest of the amount she made through the show and post-show interviews to non-profit organisations in India and the UK.

“To me, the money I earned from Big Brother was dirty money, because it caused a lot of hurt and pain to people,” Goody told a packed news conference on her first visit to India after the show.—AFP
