APNS clarification

Published February 27, 2007

THE All Pakistan Newspapers Society has clarified a news item headlined ‘APNS slams govt for using ads as lever to gag press’ , which was published in Friday’s Dawn

It said that its statement, naming the newspapers whose advertisements have been curtailed by the government, had erroneously mentioned the Frontier Post instead of the Financial Post.

According to the APNS, the paragraph should have read: “The Executive Committee was informed that in Sindh, the provincial government has curtailed its advertisements to some newspapers, including Daily Aghaz, Karachi, Daily Financial Post, Karachi, Daily Action, Karachi, and other publications.”
