LAHORE, Feb 26: The Punjab Human Rights Department will set up district offices in 35 districts of the province which will be headed by a human rights assistant director.

This was disclosed by Punjab Human Rights Minister Ashfaq Ahmed while talking to a 15-member delegation of NGOs here on Monday. HR director Shaikh Farooq Altaf was also present.

The minister said that a suitable number of officials would be appointed in districts to keep a wary eye on the human rights situation and to take prompt action to help rectify any infringement.

The Punjab Human Rights Department, he said, would investigate complaints and would help redress genuine grievances. —APP
