Shariat Court seeks reply in Qazf case

LAHORE, Feb 26: The Federal Shariat Court (FSC) on Monday sought a reply from the Punjab deputy prosecutor general on a petition against exemption of an FIA deputy director from appearing in a Qazf case.

Former FIA assistant director Gohar Sarfraz has filed the petition seeking to revoke order of a trial court regarding exemption from personal appearance of FIA deputy director Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera. Mr Sarfraz had filed the Qazf case against Mr Sukhera and his co-accused Nadira Begum alias Hina Khan.

Petitioner’s counsel submitted that the respondent got the exemption from trial court while pleading that he was posted as in charge of immigration wing at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, which required serious engagement. Since, the respondent had been made an OSD, the exemption allowed by the trial court may be revoked.

The counsel also produced an official notification wherein the respondent was made an OSD.

Mr Sarfraz submitted that Nadira Begum, at the behest of Mr Sukhera, leveled false allegations against him that he had raped one of her guests. He contended that the allegations proved false during a departmental inquiry and he filed a Qazf case against the respondents. —Staff Reporter
