Encroachments along railwaylines

Published February 26, 2007

GUJRANWALA, Feb 25: The railway administration on Sunday directed station masters to get encroachments and huts demolished along the track to avoid any terrorist activity and issued a circular to the effect.

The railway ministry had held a meeting after the Samjhota Express incident and decided to remove encroachments, including shops and huts, which were set up mostly by Afghan nationals from Rawalpindi to Karachi railway stations on the main track.

Station masters of loop lines Wazirabad-Alipur Chatha, Hafizabad-Sangila and Sheikhupura have been asked to remove encroachments with the help of railway police.
