KARACHI, Feb 25: Landhi police have arrested 140 criminals involved in robberies, kidnappings, vehicle snatching and drug trafficking and recovered a large number of arms, snatched valuables during a special drive against crimes since January 1.

This was stated by Town Police Officer of Landhi Shad Ibn-i-Masih during a press briefing at his office on Sunday.

SHO Landhi Shoaib Qureshi, SHO Sharafi Goth Malik Ishaq, SHO Quaidabad Nasir Mashwani and SHO Korangi Industrial Area Yaqoob were also present.

The TPO said the performance of Landhi and Quaidabad police stations remained on the top while Sharafi Goth and Korangi

Industrial Area police also performed well. He said those arrested included 20 street criminals, 19 dacoits, two vehicle lifters, 12 gamblers, 17 gutka and mainpuri sellers, 29 drug traffickers and 40 violators of Arms Ordinance.

He said a large number of arms, snatched goods and drugs were recovered from these criminals which included 27 pistols, two guns, 27 magazines, two revolvers, 10 daggers, 112 cartridges, gutka worth Rs0.2 million, a huge quantity of mainpuri, 10 snatched motorcycles and a car.

During the drive against gutka manufacturers and sellers, Landhi police took action against seven factory owners, Korangi Industrial Area police against two factory owners and Sharafi Goth police stations also took action against two factory owners for manufacturing gutka in their areas.

The TPO said Landhi police recovered a stolen laptop computer and mobile phones from Baloch Colony police limits and added that Korangi Industrial Area police also recovered snatched textile machinery devices worth Rs1.5 million.

Shad Ibn-i-Masih said Quaidabad police arrested six criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom and got release one abducted boy besides seizing a huge quantity of hashish and heroin from different areas in its limits.—PPI
