PESHAWAR, Feb 24: Two teams of the NWFP police will interrogate some alleged terrorists recently arrested in Sukkur and Rawalpindi so as to trace out elements involved in the recent spate of suicide bombings in the province.

The senior superintendent of police (investigation), Qazi Jamilur Rehman, said on Saturday that they were in touch with district police officers of Rawalpindi, Sukkur, Karachi and Islamabad and coordinating information obtained from alleged terrorists arrested in different areas.

Speaking at a press conference here, he said Islamabad and Rawalpindi police had recently arrested some terrorists and foiled their plan to carryout terrorist activities during the Chehlum.

“We are also trying to trace out elements harbouring terrorists in tribal areas and especially in Peshawar,” said the police officer heading the team probing the Jan 27 suicide bombing in the provincial capital that killed 17 people.

He said police had got some clues which would help in investigation and leading to the mastermind of the suicide bombings.

Answering a question, he said police had so far received no information from the general public or intelligence agencies regarding sketches of two alleged suicide bombers who blew themselves up in Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan.

He said the city police had seized 16 cars with tampered chassis numbers. He said they had constituted a special anti-car lifting cell.
