TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 24: The anti-corruption establishment (ACE) on Saturday arrested two TMA officials on charges of tampering with the record and involvement in fake allotment of residential plots in Jinnah colony.

Reports said TMA clerk Javed had tampered with the record and made wrong entries in survey of katchi abadi of Jinnah colony. TMA water works employee Rashid had got allotment of a plot in the name of his wife Rashida showing her as a widow.

The ACE had registered a case against both the officials, Rashida, ex-tehsil nazim Mian Muhammad Rafiq, former UC-55 naib nazim Malik Mukhtar Ahmad, former lady councillor Robina Kausar, tehsil municipal officer (TMO) Salim Khan and a tehsil officer regulation (TOR).

During investigation Malik Mukhtar, TMO and TOR were declared as accused in “khana No.2.” Anti-corruption special court judge Khalid Mahmood granted pre-arrest bail to both the women. Ex-tehsil nazim Mian Rafiq is still at large.

ACCIDENT: A woman was killed and four others, including a doctor of Dera Ghazi Khan, were injured seriously on Saturday afternoon in an accident here.

Dr Rafaqat, his minor son Hasan, daughter Arshi and a relative Najma Rauf were on their way to Faisalabad from Dera Ghazi Khan by their car. When they reached near Chak 284 JB, their car collided head-on with a tractor-trolley as a result of which Najma was killed while Dr Rafaqat, his children and driver Sharif suffered injuries. They were taken to the DHQ Hospital from where Sharif was referred to the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, due to critical condition.

APPOINTED: Former district education officer and principal of government municipal degree college, Dr Arif Saleem, was appointed as Toba Tek Singh regional director of Allama Iqbal Open University on Saturday.
