SWABI, Feb 24: MNA Maulana Khalil Ahmad and three other leaders, who were expelled from the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F), have demanded of the party’s central and provincial leadership to take notice of the “unconstitutional act” of the district shura.

Talking to reporters here on Saturday, they alleged that the provincial education minister and his supporters had targeted the party’s genuine workers.

Maulana Khalil, former NWFP general-secretary Najeem Khan, former joint secretary Wilayat Shah and former finance secretary Zaman Khan were expelled from the party by its district shura on charges of their involvement in activities against the party discipline.

The membership of Maulana Khalil has been suspended for three years while the three other leaders were expelled from the party for 15 years.

District President and NWFP Education Minister Maulana Fazal-i-Ali alleged that the expelled members had set up a parallel group in the party, adding that they had repeatedly been asked to give up their activities and work according to party’s policy for strengthening it in the district.

“There is no place for Maulana Khalil in the party as he was involved in harming party’s interests in the district,” the minister said.
