KARACHI: Power failures

Published February 25, 2007

KARACHI, Feb 24: Shopping centres and various localities in the metropolis suffered prolonged power cuts on Saturday.

A shopkeeper at Light House said that power was suspended at 1pm and restored at 6 pm. He said the prolonged power suspension have become a routine and are affecting business activity, but most shopkeepers instead of wasting their time in lodging complaints with the KESC have made alternative arrangements.

A complainant from Gulshan-i-Mazdoor, Baldia Town, said that power supply was being suspended daily in the area but no remedial measures were being taken despite lodging of complaints at the KESC Helpline ‘118’ many a times by consumers.

Reports of disruption in power supply were also received from North Nazimabad, Defence Phase-1, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Lyari, Orangi Town and Federal B Area.

Meanwhile, the KESC has announced a schedule of shutdown/interrupted supply for Sunday from 9am to 5pm in different localities.
