ISLAMABAD, Feb 23: The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) has launched a financial support programme for the visually impaired cricketers of the country.

A ceremony was held here on Friday to hand over the ownership documents of a house to the President Islamabad Blind Cricket Council Syed Sultan Shah.

Talking on the occasion, Chairman PBCC Agha Shaukat said the council also planned to give monthly stipend to the players but the financial constraints hampered the efforts.

Agha added the PBCC bought Sultan Shah this house for Rs. 2.02 million, the amount they saved from the Blind Cricket World Cup held in December last year.

The PBCC chief criticised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for defying the instructions of President Pervez Musharraf and the ICC, by not awarding affiliation to the PBCC.

On behalf of the PBCC, Agha also gave away Rs. 50,000 to a blind cricketer Noor Quraish for getting first position in Lahore Marathon.—APP
