SWABI, Feb 23: Nazims of 56 union councils and workers of various political parties staged a demonstration on Friday in protest against loadshedding and excessive electricity bills.
The protesters surrounded offices of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to express their resentment against frequent loadshedding in the town and its surrounding areas.
They said the people of Swabi district had provided 120,000 kanal of land for the construction Tarbela and Ghazi Barotha power projects, but their sacrifices had been ignored.
They demanded royalty in net hydel profit for the district and urged provincial and federal governments to fulfil their demands.
They complained that people of the district were getting inflated bills and added that the Peshawar Electric Supply Company staff had failed to resolve the loadshedding problems.
