KARACHI, Feb 23: Federal Health Secretary Syed Anwar Mehmood on Friday said the envisaged 13-storeyed medical complex in the premises of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre was meant to ease patients’ accessibility to wide range of health care facilities.

Speaking at the 44th annual medical symposium of JPMC, he said scattered facilities for treatment as well as diagnosis were registered to be cumbersome for patients in need, particularly those pertaining to resourceless segments visiting government hospitals.

Realising their difficulties and the increase in the number of patients visiting the hospital, the government has decided to build a medical tower which would offer facilities under single roof, he said.

Syed Anwer Mehmood said the government was making necessary investments in the health as well as education sectors and it was due to the fact that almost 100 per cent raise had been made in the budgetary allocation for federal government health care facilities.

“All these efforts are fast turning JPMC into a centre of excellence,” he commented.

He lauded JPMC Executive Director Professor Mashoor Alam for his hard work and dedication bringing about meaningful changes in the hospital.
