ISLAMABAD, Feb 22: The leaders of three important Kashmiri political parties Tuesday announced that they would oppose any solution of Kashmir dispute that was repugnant to the wishes of majority of the people of Jammu and Kashmir state.

This announcement was made by Amanullah Khan, head of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Aejaz Afzal, head of Jamaat-i-Islami Azad Kashmir (JIAK), head of Jammu Kashmir People’s Party (JKPP) Sardar Khalid Ibrahim and Chairman JKLF S.M. Saghir Khan Advocate.

They were addressing a well-attended public meeting held here under the auspices of JKLF to commemorate the martyrdom of famous Kashmiri freedom fighter Maqbool Butt and of the seven martyrs of Chakothi.

Maqbool Butt was sent to the gallows in Tihar Jail, New Delhi, by the Indian government in February 1984 after keeping him in prison for over 10 years.

The seven JKLF members and sympathizers were killed by army in February 1992 at Chakothi near LoC in Azad Kashmir while they were marching towards the LoC with over 10,000 people to cross it peacefully.

The Kashmiri leaders also decided to meet again soon to chalk out a concrete program to implement their announcement and invite other Kashmiri parties opposed to the division of Kashmir against the wishes of Kashmiris.
