Four picked up in murder case

ISLAMABAD, Feb 19: Four persons were on Monday arrested on the charge of killing a taxi driver last month, a spokesman for the police said.

He said on the directive of ASP (rural) Shoaib Janbaz, a team was constituted to trace the killers of Raja Nadeem, 18, which led to the arrest of the four men.

The body of Nadeem was found in his taxi parked along a roadside in the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town police on January 13. However, sources told Dawn that the four had been picked up after the father of the deceased, a resident of Rawalpindi, told the police that they knew the killers of his son.

“The arrests are part of the investigation in the case which is yet to be completed” said the sources. They said the police would interrogate them in the light of allegations levelled by the deceased’s father, adding that the arrested persons were not declared the killers.—Staff Reporter
