LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Feb 19: Three children and two women died in the Arjali Nadi locality of Bara tehsil on Sunday night when the roof of Abdur Rashid Afridi’s house caved in owing to torrential rains.

According to political authorities, the inmates were asleep when the roof collapsed killing Mr Rashid’s two wives, two sons -- Mohammad Younis and Rizwan -- and daughter Saadia.

With Sunday night’s incident the number of rain-related deaths in Khyber Agency had reached 19.

Agency Council member Hashim Khan had demanded that the government should compensate those affected by the rains in Khyber Agency.

He said that none of the heirs of the dead or the injured had received a single penny from the political administration.
