KARACHI: Preventive measures

KARACHI, Feb 18: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that the government is focusing on preventive measures against diseases across the province, adding that a special secretary has been appointed in the health department whose sole responsibility is to look after matters pertaining to public health.

He was speaking at a high-level meeting at the Governor’s House which was also attended by the representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO), a statement said here on Sunday.

The governor observed that a number of diseases could be averted through adoption of precautionary measures.

Besides provision of vaccines against various diseases, the government is stressing on supply of clean drinking water and improvement of the overall environment, he said.

The meeting also reviewed the steps being taken in connection with the anti-polio drive in the province.

Dr Ibad said particular attention was being paid to this matter.
