Kashif slams match-winner

LAHORE, Feb 17: Two goals each by captain Kashif Ali and Imran Malik helped Lahore Colours enter the final of the PHF U-18 talent hunt tournament, defeating Faisalabad Colours 4-2 at the National Hockey Stadium on Saturday.

The winners led the first half 1-0.

Lahore's skipper Kashif drew first blood in the 9th minute converting the first penalty-corner. The solitary goal lead remained in order till the half time.

The second half was full of excitement as five goals were scored in this session.

Soon after the resumption, Lahore Colours doubled the lead through striker Imran Malik, who pumped in a field goal in the 38th minute.

The visitors reduced the margin in the 58th minute through striker Asif Ali, who banged home with a field goal. But, two minutes later, Lahore again increased the lead to 3-1 as Imran blasted home with his second field goal.

Faisalabad again came closer 3-2 as Usman Tariq sounded the board in the 66th minute, converting the second short-corner, before Lahore Colours earned the last goal through Kashif in the 68th minute to seal the fate of the match.
