ATTOCK, Feb 17: The Attock police have arrested two more accused in the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers’ killing case.
The district police officer told local mediapersons here on Saturday that Abid and Amjad, residents of Badri village, were arrested in a search operation on Friday evening.
He said out of the nine nominated persons in the case only one — an armyman identified as Mohammad Zahir — was still at large.
He said a special team had been sent to Okara cantonment for the arrest of the armyman but it turned out that the accused had absconded from his respective army unit. However, search for his arrest was underway, he added.
The six PPP workers - including three brothers Safeer Hussain Shah, Zameer Hussain Shah, Dildar Hussain Shah - Ghulam Hussain Shah, Shehzad, Waqas and Hameed were gunned down near Badri village on Sanjwal-Attock road on February 9.
PHYSICAL REMAND: The court of judicial magistrate Abid Malik gave the two accused on a four-day physical remand of the Saddar police on Saturday.
The same court also extended the physical remand of the six already arrested accused — Umar Khan, Mohammad Imran, Mazhar, Shehzad, Noor Mohammad and Syed Sajjad Shah - for further four days.
BAIL REJECTED: Meanwhile, the court of judicial magistrate, Fatehjang, rejected the bail application of Haji Abdullah Afghani in a robbery case. The police investigating officer told the court that Abdullah was the prime accused in the case and the weapon used in the crime had also been recovered from his possession.
Abdullah along with Fazal Khaliq and Saleem Khan, residents of Peshawar, were arrested after they allegedly looted Rs0.7 million from the Fatehjang post office in January.
