LAHORE, Feb 16: A glowing tribute was paid to the late Faiz Ahmad Faiz during a meeting held in connection with his birthday at the Academy of Letters here on Friday with Moneeza Hashmi in the chair.

Speaking about the days spent with the poet, journalist Hamid Akhtar said Faiz Ahmad Faiz was not only a great poet but also a great human being.

He said Faiz had great attachment with Punjabi language. He used to say that making a mark in Punjabi was very difficult because its standard had been raised by sufi poets.

Nazia Ada, Husan Bano, Asnath Kanwal, Tauqir Naqvi, Masood Khan Arham, Iqbal Diwana, Roohi Naz, Hasan Askari Kazmi, Imrana Mushtaq, Najma Yasmin and Abdul Hamid also paid a tribute to Faiz. —Reporter
